Statement from the Primate on the Death of Bishop David Robarts

STATEMENT FROM THE PRIMATE ON DEATH OF BISHOP DAVID ROBARTS

It is with sadness that I announce the death of our dear brother in Christ, Bishop David Robarts, Metropolitan and Bishop Ordinary of the Traditional Anglican Church in Australia (formerly known as the Anglican Catholic Church in Australia). Bishop Robarts died this morning (October 2) at his home in Launceston, Tasmania. At his request a small family funeral will be held at Launceston on Friday (October 4), officiated by the Reverend Canon Brian Tee.

On behalf of the Traditional Anglican Church worldwide, I extend to all the clergy and faithful of the Traditional Anglican Church in Australia my deepest sympathies. Our condolences and prayers go out especially to Bishop Robarts’ wife, Annie, and to all his family in this time of grief.

The Traditional Anglican Church in Australia, indeed the entire Traditional Anglican Church worldwide, has lost a faithful, devout, and dedicated Father in God. Bishop Robarts held firm to his Anglican roots and lived out his Christian faith with steadfastness, determined leadership, and deep pastoral care for his people. I, along with all his brother Bishops, valued his advice and insights, as well as his lifetime of experience as a priest and bishop. Bishop Robarts was a strong steady voice in the College of Bishops, whose episcopal leadership will be sorely missed.

“Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; and may light perpetual shine upon him.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory! Amen”

The Most Reverend Shane B. Janzen, OSG
Primate of the Traditional Anglican Church
